Can someone tell me how to cook a live lobster and subsequently serve it?

Need tips on cooking and serving lobster. Also, what sides go well with lobster? Can someone tell me how to cook a live lobster and subsequently serve it?
How to Cook Maine Lobster

The two most common ways to cook

lobsters are steaming and boiling:

To steam lobsters, put about 2 inches of salted

water in the bottom of a large kettle. Bring the water to a rolling boil and put in the live lobster, one at a time. Cover kettle, return water to boiling and begin timing. Allow 18 minutes for 1 to 1录 pound hard-shell lobsters.

To boil lobsters, fill a large kettle 录 full of

water. If sea water is not available, add two tablespoons of salt for each quart of water. A good rule of thumb is to allow 2陆 quarts of water for each lobster. Bring the water to a boil. Put in the live lobsters one at a time and let the water boil again. Cover kettle and simmer about 15 minutes for

1 to 1录 pound hard-shell lobsters.

If the lobster is a New Shell Maine Lobster with a soft shell, reduce boiling or steaming time by three minutes. When the antennae pull out easily, the lobsters are done.

Serve immediately with warm butter and lemon wedges.

Sides: Green Salad w/balsamic vinegar dressing

Hard rolls with lots of butter

Dessert:

Lemon tart w/meringueCan someone tell me how to cook a live lobster and subsequently serve it?
i think steaming is best. you need a very large pot. chop 1 large onion, fill pot with 2 inches of water, 1/2 cup of white wine and add onion. cover pot and heat on high until boiling and onions start to soften. drop lobsters in and quickly cover. reduce heat to medium high. steam for 12 minutes if using 1 1/2 pound lobsters. they will be bright and dark red when done. serve with melted butter and lemon wedges. for sides i would suggest baked or boiled red potatoes and fresh corn on the cob if available. if you can't get the corn, try broccoli or asparagus with hollandaise sauce. for desert, chocolate fondue with fresh berries and fruits is a nice light finish.
bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Now here's the fun part---toss that puppy in and slam on the lid!! Lower the temp so it doesn't boil over--then boil it for 15 minutes or so depending on size of the lobster.

Take it out, hold it over the sink so the liquid runs out and not on your plate--then crack it and enjoy! Some like melted butter, I dont but most people do, so provide small bowls of melted butter for dipping. make sure you have the proper tools--crackers, those teeny forks for getting every last morsel.

Sides--Maybe a salad. No matter what I make with lobster, nobody eats it cuz they're so stuffed with the good stuff!
I usually steam them with a wine and chopped garilc, this will add flavor you can also add the garlic to the melted butter. steam for about 15 mins for a 1.50 lb lobster and about 20 for a 2 pounder.

You can also stuff the lobster, you seafood market should be able to clean it for you but if they won't then here's how

lay it on it's back and stick a knife through its head and slice all the way down, don't cut all the way through, leave the shell attached. Then clean out all the guts and you are ready to stuff with your stuffing, then bake at 350 for about 25 mins
Throw the lobster in a boiling pot of hot water until the scratching on the side of the pot stops. The serve with a juicy steak and drawn butter. Good luck, sounds delicious.
PS, you can freeze the live lobster if the idea of throwing it in live bothers you. It will numb them.
