I admire your need to save an animal a painful death in order to eat it. But unfortunately there is no other way to eat a lobster. The only reason you have to boil lobster alive is because the meat will become poisonous and will make you sick if you don't boil the lobster. good luck with that I wish I could have someWhen cooking lobsters -how do you kill them if you don't want to boil them alive. Drown them to death. Just make sure the water's not boling when you do it.
you could cut off their heads but i think they would still move...best to just bite the bullet and drop them in the boiling water..it's a lobster for god's sake...If you're that squeamish, don't eat them...LOL...Just kidding..
There are three ways to do this:





1) Put them in a cold oven and turn it on to 350 F. They'll be dead by the time the oven heats up.





2) Sever the nerve where the head joins the body. Use a chef's knife.





3) Put them in the boiling water alive. It will kill them very quickly.





Neither of these ways are very humane. I'd rather just throw them in the water, put a lid on the pot and try not to think about what I just did.
What I do is put them in a pot and pour beer in the pot. Pour enough to the point that the lobsters are feeding or should i say breathing it. It sorts of puts them to sleep before they die. Usually takes about 30 min. It will make your lobsters taste better too. Crab also..

Good question. You DO want to eat them, right? Whats wrong with boiling them alive? You don't want to hear their death churl, huh? Compared to them being smashed or dismembered, what do YOU propose?

I'd say boil them alive... I dont know any other way!
Actually, hitting them on the head would be prolonged and a bit cruel. Boiling them is more merciful, as they immediately go into shock and die quickly. Even gassing them would take a long time.... :(
Slice with a knife between their eyes through the brain.

To kill a lobster ';humanely'; you need to cut down his middle (make sure the claws are rubber banded first) and then draw the blade into his head. He will die instantly and with little pain.
Try freezing them, I think that when you lower their body temp they hibernate (go unconscious).
I use a shotgun...then you don't even have to cut them up!
Don't hit them in the head, honey.
