They are dead as far as i know and have been in a bucket of ice which has now melted for about 2 days and are tunring a redish orange from black - is it still good to cook? How do i cook some lobster my parents bought me? can i add more than just salt to the water?
I'd cook them fast to make sure they don't spoil, if they already havent. I actually think they are NOT good. The shell turning black is just the oxygen leaving the shell tissue. But the ice is melted. Was it refirigerated or sitting out? If it was sitting out, you just wasted the lobster, if it was frigerated for two days it's probably OK
You could use plain water, water and beer, water and wine or a seasoning packet called a '; boil';. Tobasco and Zatarains make some. The zatarans is excellent Of course add garlic and onions peppercorns, etc. Throw some potatoes in the water and cook them, change out half the water with fresh water and boils some corn on the cob in it.How do i cook some lobster my parents bought me? can i add more than just salt to the water?
They should be fine but I would cook them now asap. Put them in tepid water and slowly bring it to the boil. When they are cooked (depending on what size they are) let them get cold then remove the meat from their shells and claws. You can then make a sauce with flour, butter and milk and add sauteed mushrooms and onions. Put all ingredients into an ovenproof dish and cover top with grated cheese (and breadcrumbs too if you want). Cook until top is golden brown and melted. Eat with mixed salad and red sweet pepper strips. Enjoy!
They are no longer good to eat. Lobsters need to be cooked live or very very shortly after death. Once they die there is an enzyme that starts breaking down the muscles. 2 days is way too long for them to be sitting around dead without cooking them.
Many interesting dishes here http://regularcooking.blogspot.com
There are nice %26amp; easy dishes also good for health.
Thank you for answers.yahoo.com
I would definitely give them a miss as they have gone off by now and are not at all safe to eat.
They turn orange when cooked :S Adding sugar is better than salt =]
I would assume they are bad by now. I would not cook them.
Live seafood should always be eaten within the first 24 hours when you buy them.
Sorry, you're late. Pitch 'em!
I fear two Lobsters have just died in vain! Ditch them- they have gone off!
